about the practice
about me
My interest in psychotherapy emerged out of my studies in philosophy and psychology at the University of Chicago. I’ve worked with youth and adults in community-based residential treatment settings, schools, and outpatient group practice. I often work with people who experience (or have experienced) acute and chronic concerns including relationship issues, anxiety, depression, complex trauma and PTSD, grief, sexual and physical violence, addiction, and/or psychosis. I’m currently training to become a certified psychoanalyst.

my approach
What story are your symptoms trying to tell? Before we’re able to put our deepest struggles into words, our symptoms speak for us, often in the form of unintentional or unwelcome actions. Maybe you find yourself caught in repeating relationship cycles or self-defeating thought spirals. Or perhaps you notice that you’re acting out anxiously in ways that you can’t yet explain. One way to address these patterns is to listen to our symptoms as clues about hidden messages we carry within us. That process is at the core of a kind of therapy that you might consider: a therapy designed to treat your symptoms by translating them into words.
Our focus is the subtext, the untold story between the lines of what we say and do. As we explore what repeats itself in your life and in our work, we notice recurring themes. We translate these patterns into narratives that make sense. You speak your mind, and your symptoms no longer need to speak for you.
People tend to find that this process yields lasting change and greater freedom: the choice to break out of painful cycles and express yourself authentically. If you think you might be interested in pursuing this kind of work together, I’d be happy to speak with you.
